How do you know when a woman’s into you? You certainly can’t just ask – That would kill the moment. Women assume that men should “just know” when they’re interested. Women generally know intuitively when a man is interested in her. They assume men can do the same.
If you’re talking to a woman and you’re not sure if she’s into you, what can you do? You can start looking for signs. There are a few signs that women consistently show when they’re flirting or interested.
Keep in mind that these signs aren’t 100% accurate, but they’ll give you a very good idea of whether or not she’s into you. Some women will display signs of attraction to every man they meet, whether she’s genuinely into you or not. Other women are extremely shy and will only display a couple signs even if she’s infatuated.
Instead of looking for signs of attraction as if you’re looking for poker tells in a high stakes game, the key is to just pay attention to the overall vibe. Does it “feel” like she’s flirting with you? If the answer is yes and you see at least one or two of the women flirting signs listed below, then assume she’s attracted to you.
Broad Signs of Flirting
A few broad signs that a woman is flirting with you include:
- Touch. If a woman is touching you, she’s almost always interested in you. The only exception is if you’ve already established a “friend zone” over a few different interactions. If this is one of your first interactions and she’s touching you, you can very confidently interpret that as sexual interest.
- Eye contact. There are a few different ways women can use eye contact to signal interest. If you haven’t started a conversation yet and she makes eye contact with you twice, she’s interested, as that never happens by accident. If you’re in a conversation and she’s looking at you sideways or slyly, she’s probably interested in you.
- Attention to lips. If she’s licking her lips (subtly) while she’s talking to you, she’s probably interested in you. If she’s eyeing your lips, she’s also probably interested in you.
- Compliments. If she tells you she likes your shirt, says “you’re so funny,” or gives you any other kind of compliment, she’s probably interested in you. Ask yourself: How often would you compliment another guy out of the sheer goodness of your heart? Probably rarely. The same is true with women – If she’s complimenting a guy, it’s because she wants you to know she’s interested.
Specific Signs of Interest
In addition to these broad signs, there are a few more women flirting signs you should be aware of.
- Smoothing out clothing. If she’s tidying herself up in your presence, she’s probably interested.
- Hair fiddling, hair flipping, hair touching or hair stroking. This can be a flirtatious gesture, or just a nervous gesture from being in the presence of someone she’s attracted to.
- Holding her hands near her breasts.
- Scanning you up and down.
- Open body language. If her wrists and hands are facing towards you, or if her hips are facing towards you in an unguarded way, she’s probably interested.
- Laughing at everything you say, even if it’s not objectively funny.
- Dilated pupils. This can be a great indicator if you can spot it. Sometimes lighting doesn’t allow you to use this indicator; but if you can see her pupils and tell they’re dilated, you’re in.
These are some of the many signs that women show when she’s attracted to a man. Remember: Don’t spend your time in conversation counting signs of interest. If you find just one or two, assume she’s interested in you and move the interaction forward.
